Novel Study

For the past 3 weeks Te Ngahere have been doing novel studies. We had to choose a book. The book I chose was Arohanui. We also got to pick a task to do. I did a map. With a map you had to draw a picture showing what the story looks like.

Energize

In Te Ngahere we learnt about takeaways and how takeaways affect your health. We learnt about healthy hearts and unhealthy hearts. We learnt by eating to much takeaways your heart will have too much fat on it and you could catch a heart disease or even die. Now I know not to eat so much takeaways. Whaea Gina started to show us takeaways that were good for us and bad for us. The ones that Whaea Gina recommended for us are Subway, Sushi, and Lamb kebab. Some of the bad ones are Mcdonald's, KFC, Carl's jr, and Fish and Chips.

Projects

For the past few weeks Te Ngahere have been doing our pallet projects. We had to be in groups of 3s. My friends were in my group Tk, and Lesane. We decided to make a tray. We dismantled the pallet, then we denailed the planks that we got off the pallet, We then sanded it. After we sanded the planks of wood we wanted we then had to measure it. After you measure it you can start to build whatever your project is.

Goals

This week in Te Ngahere we had a choice on what to write about so we could check it and find out what out next goals are. First we had to mark our writing to identify what rubric we were. Then we had to mark it red on the hand in sheet so the teachers could mark it. I wrote a recount about a crash that I had when I was little. I think i did well with vocab and next time I could use more punctuation.  Link

Last term in Te Ngahere we made animations. My animation had grass, cow, and human. I liked working with my buddy to complete our animation. What I also liked that it was digital, simple and easy. I think i did well is presenting and screen castifying it. There was a bit of humour but not that much. What I could had of improved on was adding a bit more humor.

For the past 2 weeks in Te Ngahere we have been learning to use  language features (metaphor) in our writing. I liked this task because it was my first time learning and understanding how to use a metaphor and when. My teacher whea Beeks said to me “sometimes less could be heaps and heaps could be less” In other words I had to choose quality over quantity. In saying that here is on I changed from heaps to less. “Fonz is a knife sharp and ever so often unsustainable” and this is what it was changed to. “Fonz is a knife, sharp as ever”  our walt was WALT: We are learning to use metaphors in our writing.
Yesterday in Te Ngahere we started to learn how to use metaphors in our writing. We wrote a poem about ourselves only using metaphors. We were not to use the words because, and I. We were to write five or more metaphors. I enjoy writing about myself one of my favorite one was Fonz is a humongous wall of knowledge but still getting bigger. What I can work on next time is to use better metaphors about myself. This is my first draft.

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to make connections between different things we read or view to create new learning. I have made a quiz. I really enjoyed making the quiz and working on this topic; it was really fun. Next time I have to make more and difficult questions. Some things that i learnt were that at some beaches you can not fish or pick shellfish because there is a Rahui or ban there. Probably because of E.Coli or other dangerous things in the water. I think I did well with one of the topics that was ‘Kina Barren’.  In describing it and understanding the information there was about Kina barren, I contributed with my group to finish to the best of our ability.
