School performance

Today the 26th of September Thursday, the Kapa Haka Roopu are going to perform for our school. We are doing it to show our friends and teachers what we did at the Kaikohe Cultural Festival. I'm a bit nervous because parents might be here and most of my friends aren't in the Roopu. I'm also excited to show everyone what an amazing job we did at the Cultural Festival. Today i'm gonna go 260% and have fun. I'm going to make sure im in the right place in my line, and transition. If you were at Kaikohe and watched our performance how did we go?

Quality Blog Post

Today in Te Ngahere we have been making a DLO about quality blog posting. I thought it was no challenge and it was really easy. I learnt that your title is one of the most important things when writing not just a blog post but a story, or movie, or when your reading a book. What I didn't understand was why  we have to post on our blog a DLO about Quality Blog Posting. We did it to help you guys and ourselves do it consistently. I really enjoyed making my DLO and I hope you like it. If you were to make one what would you change?

  1. Title -
  2. Introduction -
  3. DLO -
  4. Reflection -
  5. Sources -
  6. Question -

Kapa haka

On the 17th of September, the Kapa Haka Roopu travelled to Kaikohe to practice at the dress rehearsals for the upcoming cultural festival. We went to  show the other Roopu around Northland our bracket, and so everything runs smoothly. During the walk on I was really nervous until our entrance came up and our Roopu went hearty. I really enjoyed myself and can't wait for Thursday. I need to work on smiling consistently and also I need to practice with my Totara Rakau just in case we use them on Thursday. I’m really happy with what our Roopu did yesterday and so are our tutors.

Kaikohe.

In Te Ngahere the Kapa Haka Roopu have been practicing for the Kaikohe Cultural Festival. Every day we go to Kapa Haka practice at morning tea and lunch. I'm really confident that we are going to do well. I really like our performance and I reckon it's good. I can't wait to preform and show everyone what we can do. I have tried my best to use facials well practising and the one thing I need to work on is cleaning up my Rakau actions. The cultural festival is when Kapa Haka Roopu from around Te Tai Tokerau get together and perform.

Waikare

On Friday I went to Waikare for cross country, I had a great time and it was cool to compete against my friends from other schools. The hardest thing on the course was going up the big hill. I came 6th and I was really proud of myself and so was my family. Next time I could jog instead of walk and practice more.

Sorry but no one took any photos from Paihia Kura.

Rakau

On monday the Kapa Haka Rōpu boys had the opportunity to make ourselves a Rakau. Last term we went to Mrs Lindsays house, first we had a karakia to ask tane mahuta and his brothers if it was alright to take from their trees. The tree we used was Totara. We used hand saws to cut them down. Mrs Lindsay kept them at the house to try and dry them out because they were still wet. When the rakau came to school we had to hand sand it first. After that we could use a belt sander and a finish sander. To make our Raku smooth we used the finish sander with p80 sandpaper, to make it finer we used p120 sandpaper. To finish it off we used a smooth black sand paper and also oiled our Raku to make them look good. We are going to be using them in the Kaikohe Cultural Festival but first we need to get them blessed. I really enjoyed this and so did my friends.
