Kawakawa Festival

The Paihia School Kapa Haka Roopu have been working towards going to the Kawakawa
Cultural Festival. We go with our Kapa Haka tutors everyday in morning tea, lunch, and
each afternoon. We are looking forward to seeing others performances as well as
ourselves. Personally I think we have been working hard and I need to work on my
disciple. Until Friday that's it about the Cultural Festival.

Writing

In Te Ngahere we have been writing a diary entry. I wrote about Hone Heke.
I think I did well with staying on task and making each paragraph have support from the
other paragraphs so they all collaborated to make sense. I also think I did well with the
development of my piece of writing. Next time I could use a little bit more interesting
words in my writing, other than that I was happy.

Tai-Tokerau Festival

Seven students from the Kapa Haka Roopu had the opportunity to go and watch the
Te Tai-Tokerau Festival. We went to experience the types of things our Ropu needed to
improve on. I enjoyed every performance and now our Kapa Haka Roopu is working
on a bracket for our Kapa Haka Roopu. My favorite was when Matua Pep, Izaiah,
Harlem, and myself joined a haka to tautoko one of the Roopu.

Anzac D.L.O

In Te Ngahere we have been making D.L.O´s about ANZAC biscuits. My problem was to multiply the original recipe that makes 30 into 420. First I did a basic fact that adds up to 42. Then I did another multiplication problem that I could constantly use to help me which is 14. 14x3=42 and 30x14=420. So all I did was x14 on all ingredients which left me with my answer 420. I really enjoyed making the D.L.O because it was a challenge. Next time I could complete it in the time given.
